Enjoy Life With Your Own Flower Garden - Beautiful, Easy!

Filed under: Universe Of Gardening — admin @ 8:31 pm

In our hurried, stressful world, we’re often looking for ways to relax and enjoy the things around us. Your own flower garden is a terrific way to do that. As the saying goes, you can improve life simply by stopping to smell the roses.

And those roses smell even better if you grew them yourself!

You’ve probably noticed that some people just have a knack for growing nice, healthy flowers while the rest of us seem to mostly grow weeds. Often the difference between a lush, wonderful flower garden and a gnarly weed bed are a few simple factors. Do the right things and you’ll find growing beautiful flowers is easier than you imagined.

1. Plant flowers that do well in your area. Temperature, rainfall, and more that determine your local climate will favor some flowers, while making others almost impossible to grow. For example, if you endure the super hot summers of Texas or Arizona, you will have to grow different kinds of flowers than people in cooler New York or Utah.

To some degree, you can check the backs of seed packets to know which plants grow in your area and what time of year to plant. Gardening guides can also help. Your best bet is often to talk to someone who knows plants. Usually you can find these people working in smaller stores, greenhouses, and nurseries. It’s usually not hard to identify who these plant experts are, as just about everybody in town knows about them and repeats their advice.

2. Pay attention to the quality of the soil you’re planting in. Often adding richer potting soil or light fertilizer can give your flowers a much better chance of turning out healthy. The right soil is one of the major reasons why some people grow terrific flowers while others can’t get anything to sprout.

3. Buy good quality seeds. Before we started our seed business we were surprised by how expensive flower seeds were, and by how FEW seeds were included in each packet. You could spend some pretty substantial cash buying seeds for a modest garden.

If you’re looking to buy a new brand or type of seed that you haven’t purchased in the past, I would recommend inspecting a pack before you fill your shopping cart with them. That way you’ll know what you’re getting.

Above all, be patient. Nature is an amazing system of interrelated factors. Sometimes we can understand and control all the factors, other times we just have to let nature take her course. Gardeners who understand the process of trial and error and remain persistent usually get the best results.

Also, be sure to include your family in your gardening activities. Planning a flower garden, planting it, then caring for the growing flowers can be a fulfilling, inspirational, and uniting experience for everyone in the family.

Real Estate Investments in Your IRA?

Filed under: Universe Of Real Estate — admin @ 3:33 pm

Yes, its true! But most people do not know that they can invest their IRA funds in real estate.

Why is that?

Because the financial establishment, banks, brokerage houses, credit unions, etc. don’t make money when you invest in real estate.

In fact, they lose money when you take your IRA funds out of investments they sell!

Its that simple and that selfish. They would rather have you lose money, lose your retirement dreams than tell you that you can put your money into investments other than those they sell, typically limited to stock market investments.

We have even had clients tell us their banker or broker told them it was illegal to invest their IRA in real estate!

If you check with the IRS, (http://www.irs.gov/publications/p590/index.html) you will see that they allow you to invest your IRA funds in real estate and anything else you want, except life insurance and collectibles.

Imagine, you are no longer condemned to stand by idly and watch your retirement dreams disappear before your eyes in the stock market. If you were beginning to think you would have to spend your Golden years at the Golden Arches, take heart!

You can now reap exceptional profits from real estate investments, just like other investors. Even early retirement can became a reality again!

If you are currently a real estate investor, you now have another source of capital for your deals. Rehabs, pre-construction deals, rentals, etc. can now be funded with your IRA funds. Join forces with certain family members, friends, business partners and put together your own pool of investment capital, or your own private bank, for larger deals.

If you are not knowledgeable about real estate or simply don’t want to take an active role in your investments, there are other possibilities such as investing in mortgages or tax liens, limited partnerships, LLC’s; there is virtually no limit.

This way, you can collect tax free interest payments with no management headaches and without special knowledge.

This is a great way to make up for your stock market losses. The law allows your IRA to earn unlimited profits, every year. What about the $4,000 per year limit to your IRA? It only applies to contributions, not profits.

Of course, there are rules and prohibitions that apply to investing IRA funds in real estate. This is the IRS, after all. For instance, you cannot buy or sell property you currently own to your IRA. You also cannot buy that condo in Miami and use it yourself, it must be for investment only.

Remember, this is your tax deferred retirement money which you are not supposed to benefit from until you retire. Any use of the money before age 59 would count as a withdrawal and would subject you to penalties and taxes.

But with the right guidance, those rules have not prevented our clients from being able to stuff their IRA’s with tax free real estate profits and fat monthly interest payments.

Which you can too!

Nepalese climber, 75, oldest climber to scale Mount Everest

Filed under: Better Travel, Looking for Adventure, Sportsy Stuff — admin @ 6:39 am

Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Andrew Brash returned a hero to Calgarians. With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Bahadur Sherchan noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit. Min Bahadur Sherchan returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Mt Everest. The 76-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of the Mount Everest. They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”

Further, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Andrew Brash with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey. His first found him within 156 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. later, Bahadur Sherchan, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to Chomolungma or Mount Everest to finish what he had started.

This season Anthony Loeff the French alpinist is reporting the scales for Mount Everest after he reached the top of earlier this year.

As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on Chomolungma, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. Sherchan just 7 days away from his 77th birthday beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.

Indeed, he was all too aware of the potential dangers the mountain could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused Min Bahadur Sherchan and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism. He was reported in good health as he began making his descent. Now that Min Bahadur Sherchan has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family. “The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on the mountain. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though the mountain is shared by two countries. The Chinese were flying their airplanes over the mountain and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. More than 3071 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.

Andrew Brash last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”

They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. “Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.

The Best Beaches in California

Filed under: Better Travel — admin @ 1:43 am

Visitusa.com humbly presents its list for what we believe are the best beaches in California. Of all the beaches California has to offer, we think these are tops! If you can find better beaches in California, then we’ll eat out hat (metaphorically speaking)!

Malibu Lagoon Beach: A beautiful lagoon beach with 22 acres of wetlands, gardens and sandy beach. It’s considered one of the worlds premiere surfing beaches. On the east side of the Malibu Creek Bridge is the Malibu Pier, which is excellent for saltwater fishing. On the west side is a nature area.

Venice Beach: No trip to Los Angeles would be complete without a trip to this iconic beach. Street performers, artists and “the beautiful people” mingle and stroll all the way to Santa Monica along the famous boardwalk that runs through this inimitable California beach town.

El Capitan Beach: This shady, sandy, Santa Barbara beach features rocky tide pools along El Capitan Creek. It’s perfect for swimming, fishing, surfing, picnicking and camping. A long stairway gives access from the bluffs to beach and a bike trail connects the park with Refugio State Beach.

Ocean Beach: O.B. as the locals call it is a laid-back beach-community know for its surfers and liberal politics. It is an eclectic beach community with a leash free “dog beach”, a fishing pier, swimming, surfing and volleyball. It has separate swimming and surfing zones, which is definitely a good idea.

Rio Del Mar Beach: This long, sandy beach is found in the town of Aptos, California, in Santa Cruz County. It features fire rings and a barbecue and picnic area and is a popular summer beach. It is also the home to the “cement boat” a long stranded freighter ship.

Muir Beach: This beach is less than a half hour drive from San Francisco down scenic Hwy I. It’s one of the most glorious regions of Northern California in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Fishing, surfing and campfires are allowed, and there are many coastal trails above the beach for hikers to explore.

Black Sands Beach at Shelter Cove: This splendid black sand beach is a great place for Whale watching. Located north of the small hamlet of Shelter Cove in a remote region of the “Lost Coast”, it’s the trailhead for the famous King Range hike. This is a day only beach, so campers will have to head for the mountains.

La Jolla’s Beaches: La Jolla means “the jewel,” a fitting name for the precious beaches of La Jolla’s coast. Surfers prefer Windansea beach, harbor seals love the Children’s Pool, La Jolla Shores is popular for swimming and sunbathing, while the Cove is a favorite snorkeling spot.

Drake’s Beach: This vast stretch of white sand can be found at the Point Reyes National Seashore. The areas strong winds and choppy seas make it at little too violent for most swimmers, but sun worshippers will be delighted by the opportunity to work on their tans in a beautiful California outdoor hotspot.

Royal Pardon For Killer of The Corgi

Filed under: Animal Fun — admin @ 12:54 am

Word has it plans have been changed this year for the guest invites at Sandringham Castle. The Queen I believe after reading a recent article in the daily paper has banned Florence Princess Anne’s English bull terrier from the royal residence. Florence is to sleep outside in a parked up vehicle with Anne’s other pet dog of the same breed called Lottie.

The ban was ordered by the Queen due to the traumatic experience that left HRH saddened and in mourning for her beloved pet corgi Pharos who was merciless attacked two years ago by Florence. So savage was the attack the small dog had to be put down because of the severity of injuries sustained.

Earlier in the year the queen gave amnesty to the princess’s dogs and allowed them to stay under strict orders that they were confined to Anne’s quarters where servants tending to the Princess’s needs would only enter her room in groups and armed. This year the queen was not prepared to take any chances and enforced the new ban.

Back to the night in question when Pharos the corgi lost its life, it was Lottie the other of Anne’s English bull terriers that first had the finger of suspicion pointed in her direction and was accused of the unprovoked attack on the corgi. It was only right to blame Lottie due to the fact that she was capable of attacking just like she had in the past mauling two young children.

Due to uncertainty at the time of which dog was the guilty party a decision was then made to clear Lotties name as being the culprit thus leaving Florence to carry the blame.

Florence has been known for a confrontation it had with a member of the royal staff but not much was said on the matter therefore brushed under the carpet you could say.

What baffles me is all the uncertainty hanging over the night Pharos lost his life.

Funny how Lottie was accused first of the crime then after some considerable thought Florence fell victim to claim the blame. At the trial Florence was to live another day. There was no conviction due to Florence’s flawless character therefore a pardon was given.

There are two theories here

1 Lottie was first to be accused for the brutal attack on Pharos the corgi and with her past record where she had already offended by mauling two kiddies would without a doubt certainly have put her on death row.

2 Florence with no previous conviction on record was let off on the grounds of good behaviour and received a pardon which saved her from an early exit from this earth.

Who do you think is guilty, we have a dead dog, two mauled children, and royal staff scared witless. Would I be right in saying the Royal Family to allow this to continue?

P.S.
Who really killed Pharos?
