God’s glory is real even when we don’t see it. On gray, gloomy,
rainy days, high above the overcast sky, the sun continues to
shine. We can’t feel its warmth or see its beauty, but it still
exists.
God’s beauty and His love for us are real even when our
circumstances are difficult. If we think “above the clouds,”
we can have hope knowing that God is still there.
Just as gray, gloomy, overcast skies are temporary, so are our
difficulties. If you are facing a discouraging situation in your
life right now, remember that God is still there and rejoice in
the fact that this too shall pass.

If you work out at a health club you probably noticed that in the last few years there are fewer treadmills, because they are being replaced by elliptical trainers. And although treadmills still outsell ellipticals in total numbers, elliptical sales are growing at a faster rate.
What is driving the popularity of elliptical trainers? There are two factors that make elliptical trainers so appealing:
Low Impact Workout
Upper and Lower Body Workout
Benefits of a Low Impact Workout
Most types of exercise require some type of impact and/or reverse action. For example, when you walk each step is impacting force on your ankles, knees and lower back. That impact is minor in comparison to running, which can be as much as 2.5x your body weight. Over the years that constant pounding can result in long-term injuries and strains.
Elliptical trainers reduce the hazards of impact through an elliptical motion. It feels like you are naturally walking or running without any real impact or reverse action, and yet it is a weight bearing exercise that contributes to building muscle and bone density.
If you look at the side of an elliptical trainer you’ll notice the shape of the motion is like a flat circular pattern. Budget ellipticals tend to be more circular and bouncy, while quality machines have a flatter circular motion and more of an even stride. Regardless, the elliptical motion significantly reduces the impact to your joints, and that is why elliptical trainers are appealing to older individuals and people with injuries. It is becoming the exercise machine of choice for the “baby boomers.”
Benefits of an Upper and Lower Body Workout
The concept of exercising the upper and lower body simultaneously is revolutionary. An elliptical workout utilizes the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, chest, back, triceps and biceps. There is no other machine that offers this benefit. You are not only exercising more muscle group, you are also optimizing your energy expenditure. That means it is taking less time to achieve more results, like burning calories and increasing your cardio capacity. A number of elliptical trainers allow you to reverse the motion, thereby emphasizing resistance to even more parts of your muscles.
By exercising more of your muscle mass you improve fat mobilization, which results in burning more calories and building muscle endurance more efficiently. Certain experts have suggested that this dual action process reduces the perceived rate of exertion. In other words, you are exercising harder without a noticeable difference from a less strenuous workout.
The benefit of an upper and lower body workout, combined with low impact exercising, are the reasons why elliptical trainers are so popular. And there is one other feature that should be noted. In comparison to treadmills, elliptical trainers require considerably less maintenance. That is due to the fact there are fewer moving parts, and less wear from impact.
If you haven’t tried an elliptical trainer, get to your local health club or a fitness equipment store and take one for an elliptical spin. Avoid the budget models and test the machines that are at least $1,000+. They have a more natural elliptical motion and are more stable and durable.
You’ll find that an elliptical trainer can have a major impact on your health and fitness.

Summertime is the time when folks want to take to the wilderness. If you are planning a hiking trip into the mountainous areas there are special considerations. One of these is making sure that you are physically fit enough to undertake this sort of trip.
Occasionally travelers who are not accustomed to higher altitudes can experience Altitude Sickness. Another term for this is Mountain Sickness or hypoxia. When you travel in the mountains, you need to be aware that your body needs to work harder to maintain the normal ratios of oxygen in the bloodstream because the air pressure is 30% lower at the higher altitude due to the fact that the atmosphere is less dense. If you are not accustomed to these elevations or have not accustomed your body by gradually acclimating yourself, the results can be serious. Thus it is a good idea to attempt your hiking or climbing trip after you have already spent a day or two in the mountains at a base camp or in the cities, in a relatively restful atmosphere.
Symptoms of altitude sickness begin with fatigue, loss of appetite, sleeplessness and progress to weakness, headache, and sometimes nausea and vomiting. After a few days at higher elevations, the headaches may progress to memory lapses, ringing in the ears, and difficulty in balance and walking. If early symptoms are recognized and treated, the progression of the sickness may not continue any further. Treatment includes rest, fluid ingestion, and pain meds for the headaches. Sleeping pills may make the problem worse and should be avoided. The important of “hydration” or water intake can not be emphasized enough. Drinking plenty of fluids helps to ease most of the symptoms quickly. Getting plenty of rest also is important in any situation when the body is stressed .
The milder form of oxygen deprivation is known as hypoxia, the more severe and life threatening condition is known as pulmonary oedema and /or cerebral oedema. Both of these latter conditions are unusual, yet may become a cause for concern for elderly people with weaker hearts or heart conditions, where the flow of oxygen to the bloodstream is already impaired. This condition can also exist with mountain climbers who have not acclimated their bodies gradually to higher elevations and treatment must be taken immediately. Symptoms include coughing bloody mucous, weakness, shortness of breath, cyanosis, and rapid heat and breathing rates, impaired judgment and even coma. The victim must be evacuated immediately to lower elevations below 5000 feet.
Most of the time these conditions are quite unusual in an ordinary travel situation but if you are planning on doing rock climbing or mountain climbing it is important that you are in good physical health to begin with.
Another important consideration when traveling in wilderness mountain areas is good planning. When you are going into wilderness areas, do not leave an area without alerting someone of where you are going and when you expect to return. Do not wander off willy nilly without taking with you enough supplies to last you at least 48 hours. Even if you are not planning on camping overnight on your hike, emergencies can occur and it is wise to be prepared. Carrying a well equipped backpack is a must. A pack should include basic first aid essentials, energy bars or similar in the way of food, extra clothing and a tarp or emergency thermal blanket, and waterproof matches. Water is most essential and is also the heaviest thing to carry. Two litre bottles are the minimum, and you should obtain water purifying tablets and pack these along with you so that you can purify water from a stream or river if you need to.
Also do not forget the importance of these three words: NEVER TRAVEL ALONE. The buddy system is a must when traveling in the wilderness.

Cold sores are common, eight out of ten people show evidence of the virus Herpes simplex which causes cold sores and 20% to 40% of those go on to develop the symptoms associated with cold sores. Cold sores appear on the lips and are painful fluid filled blisters which later break, leak and then crust over before healing. Cold sores do not tend to last more than two weeks. The first indication that a cold sore is going to appear is a prickly or tingling sensation called the prodrome. Cold sores are very contagious and are typically passed on from parent to child in childhood by kissing. Kissing is the main way of spreading the cold sore virus, when cold sores appear it is best to restrain from kissing. Care needs to be taken not to infect the eyes with the cold sore virus, in extreme cases, if the eyes are affected it could cause blindness. Never touch your cold sore and then rub your eyes. Once infected by the cold sore virus, recurrences are common, the triggers for cold sores are exposure to excessive ultraviolet light such as sunlight or sun beds, stress, periods of illness and the menstrual periods.
The recurrence rate of cold sores can be influenced by diet; the cold sore virus needs a high requirement of an amino acid called arginine. Arginine can be found in nuts, peanuts and chocolate. Another important amino acid, in relation to cold sores is lysine. By increasing lysine intake, the recurrence rate of cold sores can be reduced. Taking lysine supplements on the break out of a cold sore will help to suppress its duration. Lysine can be found naturally in Brewer’s yeast, legumes, dairy, fish, and meat.
The following supplements may help if you are suffering from Cold Sores.
Chaparral
Echinacea
Elderberry
Flavonoids
Goldenseal
Liquorice (topical)
Lysine (recurrence prevention)
Lemon balm (topical)
Propolis (topical)
St. John’s wort (topical)
Vitamin C
Vitamin E (topical)
Witch hazel (topical)
Boric acid
Zinc (topical)

It’s the Scots fault.
Curling was a great loch sport until the end of the ice age. After that, the lochs absolutely refused to freeze. Now it’s a great refrigerated ice sport. We have about 15,000 Americans playing the slide-the-stone game.
We have curling in Idaho. You can read about our curling clubs at http://www.cityofboise.org/parks/Iceworld/curling.htm.
Read the exciting history of the exciting sport of curling at http://www.usacurl.org/basics/history_of_curling.htm.
Curling is an Olympic sport. That started in 1998. Right this minute I’m watching curling on television. The United States just beat Denmark 8 to 3. How very exciting.
Curling is somewhat like shuffleboard. That’s the game played by old people like me on some cruise ships and in some city parks. In curling you slide a stone too-heavy-to-left along the ice. Once the stone is rushing down the “runway” at about one mile per year, others sweep in front of the stone. Teammates yell words of encouragement to the sweepers.
I’m not sure what sweeping does. Does it polish the ice so that the stone will go faster in the direction of the sweep? Does it roughen the ice to slow the stone down? What is a curl anyway? This calls for research.
A quick Google search shows the official rules of curling. Read them at http://www.usacurl.org/Media/Press%20Kit/WCFRules.htm.
Under section 4: Stones, we learn that “(2) No stone, including handle and bolt, shall be of greater weight than 19.96 kilograms (44 lbs.) or of greater circumference than 91.44 centimeters (36 inches) or of less height than 11.43 centimeters (4.5 inches).“
Let’s say you have a stone that is 3-feet in circumference. Dividing by π we get a maximum diameter of 11.459129 (ignoring the fact that I used π to only 5 significant figures). Anyway, that looks about like the diameter they use in the Olympics. I think that means wider the better.
My television just switched to the Westminster Dog Show. What’s as fun to watch as curling is the trainers running the dogs around the arena.
I have to stop here for a minute because they are showing the sporting group. Go have a cup of coffee. I’ll be back as soon as I see which family-loving bundle of energy with the highly-developed sense of smell wins the group. Did you know that the German Shorthair Pointer has questionable lineage? Wow, that Brittany is a beauty.
Back to the very exciting game of curling.
Wow! That’s a nice Chesapeake!
Occasionally a stone gets broken in curling. I’ve never seen it happen but that would be a very exciting moment in the sport. If a stone breaks, one must then decide which fragment is the largest. Once that is carefully determined, a new stone is placed in its spot. The game then continues-but things will never be the same.
The Golden Retriever is one of the most loved dogs in the world.
I don’t know how this would ever happen in curling but if a stone rolls over onto its side or its top, is shall immediately be removed. It would take Paul Bunyan to accomplish this feat.
The English setter is often an object of art. They can come in orange or lemon as well as other colors.
In curling if the handle comes off the stone, after a good laugh, the stone, if desired, may be replayed. I think that requires a new stone but I’m not sure of that.
In curling you must release the stone. If you don’t, you will look silly sliding down the runway. By the way, the term runway is not used in curling as far as I know but you know what I mean.
The Black Cocker Spaniel “is black” according to the Westminster Dog Show announcer.
A player in curling must not doodle around when it is his or her turn. The skip is the teams boss. The skip must not put up with slowpokes. One must get that stone “running.”
The English springer spaniel has a history in the White House.
According to the rules of curling there is no purpose in sweeping in front of a stationary stone. That will not get it moving. And you must not sweep in front of an opponent’s stone. That would be rude.
The Irish Water Spaniel has a rat tail. They don’t like strangers. When I was a kid, my friend, Paul, had a water spaniel. Believe me, they don’t like anybody.
In curling, you must not tackle the opposing sweepers while they are trying to sweep. Sweepers must not damage the ice with their brooms.
The Spinoni Italiano is tireless. He was developed in Italy. He likes pepperoni on his pizza.
In curling there will be no switching brooms or brushes in the middle of the game. If your broom or brush breaks, you must replace it with the exact type of broom or brush.
Section 12 of the curling rules tell you how to score. I’ll let you figure that out for yourself. There is to be no smoking, drug-use, or profanity in curling. What a nice clean sport.
The Golden Labrador Retriever, “America’s dog,” won the Sporting Group.
The Hound Group is next.

Artificial intelligence systems will be assigned tasks and generally these tasks will be tasks which humans either do not want to do, do not have time to do or are potentially risky or dangerous. When we sat artificially intelligent robotic systems and androids to do our bidding we must consider the amount of time it takes them to complete the job. To increase the productivity artificially intelligent androids in robotic systems must have stability controls and realize when conditions are right they can speed up and when those conditions change that the decision matrix is triggered. If there are stability issues for control or one of the robotic sensors shows a potential problem with tilt, attraction for weight distribution it must slowdown.
For instance considerately robotic warehouse, and in his robotic warehouse there are robotic forklifts; the goal of a robotic warehouse is to save money in labor and to create a tying efficient system. Speed of accomplishing each task is important and in fact paramount. Many of the U.S. automakers most efficient factories today use robotic systems to pump out as many cars as possible. However, if a palette or part is dropped this can cause chaos in an otherwise perfect system. Such chaos may trigger an event, which requires a human intervention and thus defeat the purpose of building the system in the first place.
In artificially intelligent robotic system or let’s look at an android many things occur. In the event of an artificially intelligent android there are issues with stability, balance in any object being carried at the time. If the android turns a corner it could fall over and drop whatever it is carrying. We must understand that any android must learn each time it carries an object, because each object may be different size, weight or shape and thus the previous datasets or even the master datasets may be incorrect for the displacements of internal stability control systems and balances to keep the artificial intelligent robot upright. If each time it artificially intelligent robotic android carries a new object it creates a separate database of how to handle itself with those various sets of objects it can determine the best possible stability control solution with future tasks. Consider this in 2006.

Based on years of experience in the employment field, and augmented by the inexhaustible sources of information from numerous resources, I offer you a review of RETIREMENT PLANNING that you can consider and compare against whatever retirement efforts you may have already undertaken. In this review, we’ll identify the real advantages and details of sound retirement planning elements that many millions of employees and self-employed individuals rely on as a regular part of their workplace experience.
Those elements below will be in the form of questions and queries about your current status relating to the elements. Your answers will reveal how effecient, or not, your retirement planning has evolved. If your answers are lacking, then the questions themselves expose a map to implement a sound retirement strategy to fit your circumstances.
To start, lets consider PRIMARY ACTIONS one should consider for a secure retirement:
1. Create your individual retirement needs list.
2. Begin a step-by-step plan for reaching those retirement goals.
3. Assess your current assets.
4. Begin to build up savings.
5. Find good professional financial advisers
6. Learn about how to make the most of tax strategies
Let’s look closer at what the government has to say about it; from the Pentagon Federal Credit Union: “Now more than ever before, Americans are changing employers, indeed careers, several times during their lifetime. To adequately prepare for your future, it is important for you to establish, and manage, your own retirement plan. With the secure days of drawing from a hefty pension plan from one company gone, you may find that you must rely on several sources of income during retirement. These sources may include a company pension, Social Security, investment income, savings, part-time work, the sale of assets, and others. The sooner you begin planning for and contributing to your retirement, the better off you will be. Only you can determine whether your retirement will be spent counting pennies or living life to its fullest.”
Now, let’s consider some SPECIFIC CONSIDERATIONS that will affect your retirement: For instance, at what age will you retire? Or… how many years do you have for creating retirement savings? The answers to those two questions help to form much of your retirement strategy.
Next, put the results down on paper - actually create a retirement worksheet from which you can refer to as you make your way through the other elements you should consider. There are some free resources that you can access to help you create such a worksheet. For instance, the Pentagon Federal Credit Union web site offer a retirement worksheet. Go to Google search and input the keywork-phrase “Planning your retirement.” Resource Center: Planning for Your Retirement is typically the 7th or 8th link on the first page of search results. In that article, there is a link on the first page to the Retirement Planning Worksheet.
Some of the starting points to consider are: Your company’s Retirement Plan and what it offers. Often your 401K IRA (usually with company matched contributions) will give you the most for your money. Contribute what you can afford.
Other company choice often include Annuities and Mutual Funds. If you don’t have a company plan, or you’re maxed on your contributions, you would do well to consider Annuities and Mutual Funds. Annuities feature fixed annual return rate, and are considered by many the most secure investment. Many insurance companies sponsor annuities. Mutual funds feature higher returns, but they are more volatile, therefore more risky. Many investment professionals consider Mutual funds in the same risk category as stocks. A good strategy for minimizing the risk when investing in mutual funds, is to spread any investment across a number of different funds. Both annuities and mutual funds pose some risk to your initial capital investment. You should always bear in mind, that financial risk is inherent in any investment venture.
Another choice is to set up an Individual Retirement Account (IRAs). Traditional IRA accounts are well known. Traditional IRAs are considered Low risk. To begin with, they are federally insured. IRAs also carry significant tax advantages. Another choice is a Roth IRA. Roth IRAs are available to many who do not qualify for Traditional IRA because of participation in a company retirement program or because of income considerations. You may contribute to a Roth IRA until age 70.
As you continue to consider your personal Retirement Plan, remember to assess your financial state. There are a number of factors to be considered in making that assessment. For example, the amount of money you have in your savings; your net worth; what Real estate you may own; your stock portfolio, if you own any stocks; Bonds; Insurance policies; Valued possessions; your combined Income totals.
Don’t forget to establish your retirement goals. At what level do you want to live in retirement? Most folks require a 25-30 year budget for you total retirement dollars; but that doesn’t fit all needs. Be specific and rational.
Another important step is to determine how you will manage your assets. Investment asset management falls basically into three categories: budgeting and growth and savings.
Budgeting. Your retirement must be as much a priority as food and bills. Financial considerations and decisions must be viewed from the perspective of the potential impact on your retirement.
Growth. With retirement security as a major driving force, active management of assets becomes important. Consider finding a personal financial adviser you trust.
Building Up Your Savings. Savings are the best “hedge” against the future - there’s nothing like cold, hard cash. A savings plan is very helpful - For example, budgeting a certain amount from every paycheck to be deposited in your savings, and insuring that the deposits are made on a regular basis. Savings can also be a ready resource for further investing at any time.
Now let’s consider: Finding Professional Financial Help. There are thousands of financial firms that cater to individuals. You should research, reliable, well-known firms and interview their people to find one you trust.
And what about creating customized Tax Strategies? Each of the avenues we’ve discussed has tax advantages and/or liabilities. The laws are many, and can be confusing. Consider an independent class on retirement planning to educate yourself, so you don’t have to rely blindly on professionals who live on commissions for their advice.
Creating a Retirement Plan - Creating a Retirement Plan can be a daunting task. It can seriously impact the quality of your life in your golden years. Consider continuing education courses, to stay on top of strategies, trends and legislation that will impact your retirement investments. Such courses are offered through Community Colleges and online organizations (many offering Continuing Education Units).
By addressing the aspects of retirement planning and management reviewed herein, one can determine the value of their current retirement situation, or verify some alternative avenues for retirement that may fit a specific circumstance. Don’t neglect your retirement or put it off till later in your career. There are choices available for all levels of income. The information reviewed here could help to start you on a path towards a secure retirement.
